IndusGuru: Coming of Age

A New Year is time to reflect on the year gone by – its highs and lows, memories and learnings as well as renew our resolutions for the future, for all the things we want to do, but have not yet found the time, ability, strength or commitment for.

So, it is, with Team IndusGuru – with new clients, a growing expert network and an expanding, committed and energetic team – yet much that remains to be done on the journey we have set out on.

Pure numbers will not do justice to the feeling of confidence and satisfaction that we have as a team – so let me share with you some heart-warming moments and “wow” milestones, that convince us that our vision of IndusGuru – a platform based on trust for the best business experts and consultants, providing unique opportunities to professionals and organisations alike – is becoming a reality.

Making a difference

A growing number of testimonials from our consultants and clients tells us that we are making a difference to their lives and work. And when the testimonial is in the form of a Thank-You chocolate cake, from one of our expert consultants, it makes our day, like nothing else can! (Trade secret: Team IG has several sweet teeth!)

Our consultants demonstrate the same values – partnership and integrity, that we hold dear. When the India office head of a large global $2bn trading firm, approached IndusGuru to develop SOP’s and an operating manual – he wasn’t willing to pay any fees until he saw our output. Discussions reached a stalemate, until our consultant agreed to work for a couple of weeks, with her investment – to deliver a sample process manual. The client was delighted – and commissioned a larger assignment our consultant to deliver SOP’s in 70 Business Process domains.

Our experts are frequently called upon to give advice on new business / start-up ideas. Frank and genuine advise from our experts, often results in a client rethinking their strategy or direction, even though it means a possible “business planning” assignment goes up in smoke! “Client interest first” is a credo for all our expert consultants

All India Impact

Early in the year, an SME manufacturer became our first client out of NCR, and has grown since then to be one of our most prolific – awarding its 3rd assignment to an IG network expert in the last 3 months.

In August, a CA firm based out of Kolkatta, hired an IG network expert to help it expand its client base beyond its existing services to US and Australia based CPA firms

With engagements in Surat, Coimbatore, Bangalore, Chennai and our very own aamchi Mumbai -this year, we can truly say that the IG network and clientele has reached all 4 corners of the country

Enabling and guiding Indian entrepreneurship

Engaging with IG clients has given us a ringside view of the diversity of Indian entrepreneurship at work – we have been approached to help grow businesses, from a community-based matrimonial site, a high-end luxury-car garage, a Digital-Technology enabled super-market, to a CA firm wanting to increase its global client footprint for providing back-office services

I am convinced more than ever, of the importance of human capital over financial capital – matching genuine business expertise – with Indian entrepreneurship and ideas, can make all the difference to the success and growth of SME’s and Startups

As we have grown and learned through these experiences, we have sharpened our Business model. We re-launched our easy-to-use Self-Service model. As our value was acknowledged, we reframed our consultant membership model. We have enhanced our curation process to include video-reference calls that improves our understanding of our expert’s capabilities and aspirations –so that we can make that “best-fit” match, faster and more frequently. We have strengthened our team- and now have Tripti – aspiring entrepreneur, intrepid traveler, foodie and a bonafide member of GenNext – as part of our IG Business development team focused on Startups and SME’s. Payal – has grown seamlessly into our master-of-all-trades, combining BD, Social media outreach and strategic-advisor all rolled into one. Cyrus – our chef-de-Platform…designer, architect, trouble shooter, midnight-coder, BigData guru..continues to be our go to person for all things tech and data related! Thanks to our extended IG family..who support us for Social media, Web-Hosting, Content writers, payments ..et ..all you help us grow and stay efficient and focused on our clients.

So what lies ahead ? Here are a few of my resolutions for IG in the coming year –

2019 should be a watershed year for IndusGuru – a year to consolidate gains, launch new ideas and services and to achieve that much sought after milestone for a startup – financial breakeven.

Operationalize some new ideas for our client base – Launch an Expert-on-Call & Meet-the-Expert service model and launch the IG Gurukul series – a networking and sharing event, among IG Experts and other freelancers, in keeping with our vision of building a learning community of independent expert consultants.

Most importantly, I resolve to retain the spirit of a Startup, the culture of team involvement & ownership in all key decisions – what I can call simply Learn&fun@work !
